Our Healing Nature

Science shows that our body has a natural ability to heal—the information for healing is in our DNA and in each cell of our being. For example, when you cut yourself, your cells know that they need to divide and grow to fill in the wound. They know how to fight the infectious microbes that exist on your skin, and your DNA is replicated into each new cell that develops. Your body also knows how to gently turn off this process so you don’t develop skin tumors. The best part is that this process is automatic: you don’t have to mentally initiate healing. As long as you are alive, healing is possible.

We don’t often think about this innate and miraculous ability to heal, but it serves us on a daily basis. Every illness has some mystery to it, and often, healing cannot be fully explained. This is why doctors and scientists continually seek new answers and solutions: there will always be more to discover. So, can there be a formula to heal? Is it reasonable to think that there could be a health method that encapsulates the incredible, dynamic, mystifying energy contained in our bodies?

And what does it mean to heal?

Journey to Something New

When patients first come to see me, they often tell me that they’re sick of feeling awful and just want to go back to how they used to feel. We all have this hope or expectation that our bodies will always behave like a new car. We want to fill it with fuel and have it run smoothly for 100,000 miles without mechanical problems. We want our body to take us to and from work and allow us to enjoy life without difficulties. And when it does “break down,” we want it fixed quickly and easily so our lives are not affected.

If you’re here, reading this blog, or found my website, you’ve probably been dealing with a health issue for some time. For you, the “quick fix” hasn’t worked. This may be hard to hear, but when you face a health issue that is challenging, mysterious, or chronic, there is no going back to the same person you were before. The difficulty itself changes you—which is what it’s supposed to do! Your body is directing you to someplace new. Challenges are like sand in an oyster, causing the friction that creates the pearl.

In life, we see that adversity cultivates wisdom and strength, which ultimately improves our experience of life. When we face a challenge in our physical body, it’s the same thing—it’s an opportunity to grow on some level. We may not always understand why it’s happening when it begins, but we can remember that it is there to help us.

For more than 30 years I’ve seen thousands of people go through extremely difficult times. I’ve also worked with a lot of issues in my own body. During the hard times, when we are suffering, it always seems pointless … and endless! But as the situation transforms and we begin to heal, we usually find that the experience has generated something new and positive within us.

Inexplicable ailments, chronic pain and other mystery issues with your body do not have to be a forever thing. You can heal! Pick up a copy of my book – Healing When It Seems Impossible: 7 Keys To Defy The Odds.
